It just keeps coming down! It feels like this winter is going to make up for past season shortfalls. Layer upon white layer of Utah dry snow: Monday’s storm set up a good base, Tuesday’s temps kept it nice and dry and today’s dump allowed Bear and Summit to open even more terrain. I spent most of the last three days at Bear Mountain looking for freshies and tracking the glades just off-piste.
Mid-afternoon I joined a few friends for laps on Gambler. We quickly laid a trail up ‘boot hill’ so we could get the goods from the top of Chair 3. Winds buffeted us as we dropped skiers-left and kindly filled in our tracks by the time we circled back for more. After we burned our thighs out climbing the ‘hill,’ we looked to Showtime for more knee-deep turns. It delivered. I stayed tight to the chair line and found a few face shots near closing time. This might just be the winter we talk about for years to come. Better get out here soon so you can have an epic story to tell about the winter of 08-09!
